Cato and Vania!

Vania greeted me with super cute meows when I walked in. He was super affectionate and cuddly. He crawled into my lap and started kneading me :) We had a nice cuddling session before he got too hungry and led me into the kitchen. I gave them some fresh food and water and cleaned their litter. Cato was sitting on the bed when I walked in, but as soon as she saw me she jumped off the bed and ran under it. However, she came out from under the bed when I played with Vania using the bed. She chased the laser just as enthusiastically as he did :) She would scamper across the apartment and jump on the walls. She didn't want to be petted though and would ran away when I got too close for her comfort. They were both panting and happy afterwards.

Competition of Purrs

Willy and Oscar were both very excited to see me :) I was relieved to see that Willy had come out of his shell and was now rolling around happily getting petted. He even rolled on on his back for a nice belly rub :) Oscar was his cuddly old self. They were both sooo cute and I had a great time petting them simultaneously. It was almost like they were competing who can more purr more cutely and intensively. We then had a nice time playing with the laser and the bird toy. They ran after it excitedly across the apartment. Oscar happily got high on catnip before I left :)

Milo!

Milo greeted me with some very cute meows and lead me to the kitchen. He got even more excited when I opened the fridge and give him his one spoon of fancy feast. He happily ate some. We then had a nice time playing with the laser toy. He chased after it excited across the apartment. He got tired of that and I petted him for a bit. His fur is so luxurious that I kept on accidentally giving him small static shocks! He liked having his cheeks and chin rubbed. I brushed him a bit and he tolerated that pretty well--only a few protesting meows. I gave him some cat nip before I left.

Willy and Oscar

Willy and Oscar are doing very well :) Oscar was very excited and he was such a sweetheart! We had a nice cuddling session and he purred a lot. I gave them some more food and fresh water and cleaned their litter. We then had a nice time playing with laser and bird toy. Willy was a little shy and didn't want to be petted. He had a great time playing with the laser and bird toy though. They both ran across the apartment chasing the laser bug and bird. Oscar got super excited when I opened the catnip bag. He rolled around in it and was very happy and high :)

Sam!

Sam greeted me with excited and cute meows when I came :) She followed me around as I prepared her food and cleaned her litter. She was very happy to see me preparing a plate of food for her. She meowed happily, but didn't really eat much of it. We then had a nice cuddling session. She purred and flopped around as usual. She's such a sweetheart :) She was also very interested in my bag and kept on trying to get into it. We played a little bit with the laser, but she was much more interested in getting petted. I also brushed her a little bit and give her some treats. I sprinkled some catnip on the rug for her and she happily rolled around in it :)

Bruno!

I was happy to see that Bruno came out of his shell :) He was still hiding in the closet when I came, but as soon as I opened a can of cat food for him he appeared chirping excitedly. Since it is Thanksgiving (day of gluttony), I gave him half a can instead of a quarter. He was VERY happy about that and he ate with great enthusiasm. We then played with the laser (he didn't seem very interested in the birdy toy). He then lost interest in the laser and returned to the kitchen to eat some more canned food. We then had a nice petting session and he rolled around getting his belly rubbed. He super affectionate and he kept on butting his head against my hand :) He purred a lot too. I then sprinkled some catnip on the floor and he rolled around in that :) He left him happily high on catnip!

Sunny!

Sunny was lounging on the bed when I came. He seemed very comfy and cosy there. As soon as he saw me, he jumped off the bed and led me into the kitchen. I gave him some more dry food and a fresh plate of wet food and new water. He ate some. He wasn't very interested in the bird toy or the laser. He chased after the rat toy for awhile, but soon got tired of it. So we played another game--I would throw the rat toy and he wouldn't move :) We then had a nice petting session. He really likes his cheeks stroked :) I sprinkled some catnip on the floor for him and he was happily sniffing at them when I left :)

Clover and Mayflower

Clover and Mayflower greeted me with excited meows when I came in. They got even more excited when I opened a can of food for them :) Clover stood on his hind legs and put his paws on the table and Mayflower meowed excitedly. Mayflower and Clover tried to steal each other's food all the time. After they ate their food, we had lots of fun playing with the laser. They ran across the apartment chasing the laser bug. After they got tired of the laser, I petted the cats. They purred a lot. Clover is super affectionate-he even licked me :) They were also very nice to each other touching noses and grooming each other. The evening went pretty much the same as the morning.

Zucca, Cinquo, and Iggy!

Zucca, Cinquo, and Iggy are super cute and are available for adoption through Hyde Park Cats! They were so excited to be fed that they knocked over their bowl before I finished and started eating the spilled food :) After they had finished eating, we had lots of fun playing with the bird toy and laser. They are sooooo playful and ridiculously cute! Cinquo caught the bird toy and put it in his mouth and walked around with it. It was really cute. He also hissed and growled at it as if it was a real bird :) Take them home today!

Bruno

Bruno already misses his cat mommy :( He was hiding in the closet when I came and didn't want to come out. I waved the bird toy around and used the laser, but he still stayed in the closet. I finally lured him out of the closet with some cat treats :) After he had some, I tried to get him to play with the laser but he wasn't very interested in that or the bird toy. He went back to the closet. I petted him a lot in the closet though. He was very cuddly there and would bunt his head against my hand a lot to get more petting. I left a quarter can of food on a plate in the kitchen for him to eat later. Hopefully, he will feel more comfortable with my presence tomorrow and would come out to play with the laser and bird toy!

Sam!

Sam greeted with with cute and excited meows when I entered the apartment. She wasn't interested in her quarter can of cat food sprinkled with cosequin. She was a lot more interested in being petted! We had a nice cuddling session. She flopped around a lot and purred. We then had lots of fun playing with the bird toy and laser. She is so sweet and cuddly :) She loved the bag that I had bought over and tried to get into it all the time. After she had paid her dues in cuddling, I sprinkled some catnip on the floor and she happily got high. She wasn't interested in anything but catnip after that. I sprinkled some more before I left so she will have some to enjoy later.

Mayflower and Clover

Mayflower and Clover are doing very well. I didn't have the skills to serenade them with Chopin, but I don't think that they minded :) They immediately started meowing excitedly when they saw me heading to their food bowl. After they had finished eating, we had a lot of fun playing with the bird toy and laser. They ran after the laser excitedly. Clover jumped really high after the bird toy. Mayflower was more of a relaxed hunter. She would swat at it when it came closer to her. We then had a cuddle session and both Clover and Mayflower enjoyed some pets and scratches. They look very happy and healthy!

Seffie

Seffie is doing very well. She greeted me with very cute meows and immediately begged to be petted which I happily obliged. She purred happily for a while. I then cleaned her litter and gave her some fresh food. Her food bowl looked full so I didn't put any new food in the bowl.

We then had a great time playing with the bird toy. She jumped after it super high! Eventually her hunt was successful and she "killed" the bird. She then walked away looking very proud.

I petted her some more before leaving. Very cuddly!

Here are some more pictures of her.

Feeding Feral Cats

Only two cats showed up to be fed around noon today. Hopefully, more will show up later after smelling the food. The two very shy feral cats sure appreciated the food though and had excellent appetite!

Here are the pictures AND videos of them :)

The Cat Olympics

Nadine won the gold medal in the bird toy catching category and Big Ed won the gold medal in the laser category :)

Big Ed chased after the laser with great gusto. He jumped on the walls super high and he even ran in circles chasing after it :) Nadine as usual put the bird toy in her mouth after catching it and dragged it under the bed, under the futon, and under the table.

As a reward for winning those gold medals, Big Ed and Nadine enjoyed a plate of all natural bonito fish flakes for cats. I think that Big Ed ate more than his share of it though :) I left them happily munching on the flakes when I left :P

Big Ed and Nadine

Big Ed and Nadine and I had a great time playing with the birdy toy. Big Ed growled and hissed whenever he caught it thinking that it was a small bird. Nadine would carry the bird toy in her mouth and drag it under the table or under the couch or under the bed. It was super cute! They are super athletic too--jumping over each other.

Their food bowl was still full so I didn't give them any more food. Abigail and I petted them too. I guess I shouldn't have played with them so much since they were much more interested in catching the bird toy than being petted!

Here are some pictures of them.

Mec and Minou

Mec and Minou are doing very well :) We had a wonderful time playing with the laser toy. I thought they would enjoy a different toy instead of the usual da bird toy. Mec was more interested in the laser than Minou. He galloped across the room several times chasing it. Minou would occasionally chase after it when the laser bug got close to her, but she left most of the playing to Mec. I think that I played a tad bit too much with Mec because I heard him panting. I left him completely tired out staring at the wall hoping to another laser bug shows up :)

I also gave them several whisker lickings tuna flavored cat treats. Minou was very interested in them and followed me around begging for them :)

Here are more pictures AND video of them :)

Chronic Cat Ear Infection

Lexy has had a chronic ear infection in one of her ears for slightly over a month now. I took her for her annual exam and Dr. Wake at the Hyde Park Animal clinic thought that she had a bacteria infection and prescribed both an antibiotic pill and ear medication. He also told us to clean her ears with q-tips. I had read online not to clean cat ears with q-tips so I skipped that part and administered her medication and just cleaned it with tissues. Her ears looked slightly better, but still red and inflamed a week later when I took her back to the vet. He told me to make sure to clean it deep inside with q-tips to ensure that the medicine reached where it needed to reach. I did that for another week and unfortunately her ear looked no better no worse. We took Lexy back to the vet and after waiting for an hour, we ended up seeing Dr. Williams. He cleaned out her ear with a solution and told us to get use that in addition to the Baytril Otic that we were using. We did that for a week and her ears looked a lot better. I was very hopeful that her ear infection would be cured once and for all. The vet thought so too and had us come back next week for one final checkup. Unfortunately, her ear infection became worse last week. When we took her to the vet this Saturday, her ear once again was red and had lots of waxy buildup. Now, we were given medicine to treat both yeast and bacteria and limit her to only one kind of food to eliminate the possibility of allergies. They also did an ear cytology on her and told us that they will call us at the end of the day. So far, they have not and I will need to call them tomorrow to find out the results.

I am getting rather frustrated. I understand that the vets at the Hyde Park Animal clinic are doing their best and there really isn't anything else they can do at this time. However, I want her ear to heal. It hurts me to have to see her ears red and inflamed. It also hurts me to have to torture her to apply the ear medication twice per day. She doesn't understand that we are doing this for her own good. She's quite upset at us lately and not even the cat treats are able to mollify her.

I wonder what should we do. Should we take her to another vet clinic? But we don't have a car and we are not sure that another vet clinic can do anything else. Should we see another vet? We are so far happy with Dr. Williams. He seems very knowledgeable. I just hope that her ear infection can heal soon.
